The principal purpose of the project is to facilitate the access of disadvantaged population to certain artistic forms and technics (contemporary music, opera, dance, theatre) in four peripheral areas (Bulgary, Hungary, Romania, the middle of France).
„K. and the castles” means an artistic, a scientific and a technical job at one time which endeavors to work out a specific, intermedial, interdisciplinar artistic language – a language that draw its characteristic from the diversity and richness of point of views.
Creators’s inspiration and people’s enthusiasm: it is the coopoeration of four cultural institution: their staff as well as musicians, singers, actors, dancers, video artists, stage technicians, costume designers, decorators and technicians work together for 18 months.
In the frame the workshop, in unusual places, Franz Kafka’s The castle is thought up and thought again, adapted to the given circumstances, then performed.
Music is composed by Karol Beffa, French-Polish composer, just for this occasion.
Five main aim:
- To establish a fruitful cooperation among the institutions, the spaces of creation and mediation and the different ways of working, managing and communicating.
- To concentrate on the natural and architectural heritage of the concerned areas, as the places of creating, meeting, exploring and performing.
- To create an interdisciplinar language that focuses on Kafka’s The castle.
- To involve school communities and train professional artists.
- To raise the interest of public for an european, interdisciplinar initiation (conferences, sightseeings, meetings, workshops and performances).
Activities and programs to achieve:
- Three preparatory sessions which aim is to work out the relations the method of cooperating among the partners.
- To manage the artistic, scientific and technical work in four scenes: working out a conception in France; musical interpretation in Bulgary; all the works in connection with dance in Hungary; and theatre rehearsals in Romania.
- To form school and professional preparation and creation workshops.
- Conferences, sightseeings, issues and other (foto reports, documentum pictures, websites).
- To initiate and popularize a festival called „East Wind”.
Prospective results:
- The project ensures access to a new aestethic, an experience of a performance and a disciplinar european initiative for approximately 10 000 people.
- 12 heritage areas will be revalued and the image of the given peripheral, sometimes marginal places will be renewed thanks to the collective work of the inhabitants and the newcomers.
- The project provides competence, knowledge and new percpective to approx. 1000 students and atrists.
- The mentioned areas will participate in an European cultural network and new methods of cooperation wil form.
The background of the Hungarian section will be provided by „Gesztus Műhely Egyesület” (Gesture Workshop Association). Rehearsals will be held in the studios of „SÍN Kulturális Központ” (SÍN Cultural Centre). Strategical and communicational partner will be the.
